NFT Shower Thoughts (12/8/22)

Thursday. Almost Friday. But not quite. But almost there.
The more I think about what Apple is doing to coinbase the more I realize the need for decentralized sources. I know, I sound like a broken record.
Yesterday I ended the article about how Meta aka Facebook is bound to run laps against other giants such as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, etc in the Web 3 space.
I just want to make one thing clear, I am not a fan of Mark Zuckerberg. I don't necessarily have a specific issue with him but it's more so the shadiness and lack of privacy he gave his users in the earlier days of Facebook. Also, he hasn't unbanned @NFT.
Anyways, as always, you must give credit & respect where its due. Zuckerberg deserves a lot of it. I remember I was in elementary school when I heard/used Facebook for the first time.
At first it was just seen as an app for college students at Harvard to connect with one another. There was skepticism that it would never evolve to become more than that. We know how that turned out, soon parents and children were flocking to the app to friend request just about everybody they knew.
Even after the previous doubts were alleviated, here came the new ones.
"Yeah a lot of people use it but the business model isn't sustainable and Facebook won't survive in the long term"
And even when it wasn't any of that, the narrative was "yeah but the content on the apps won't be sustainable to entertain people" Wow.
Fast forward 12 years and well.... those people ate their words.
History repeats itself
Here we are sitting in 2022, three weeks away from 2023. Where the fck did time go?
Roughly 19 years ago Facebook was created, and today they own Instagram & whatsapp which are two of the most used social media apps across the world.
Ive listened to enough Mark Zuckerberg interviews to know he's a future thinker in terms of consumer behavior. He recognizes that the way we communicated 10 years ago on social media is not the same way we interact today, and it definitely won't be the same 10 years from now.
With everything he's accomplished so far I really don't understand how people can still bet against him. But as he puts it himself,
if you’re getting skepticism, you’re pushing hard enough.
Damn right.
Not bad for something that that started as a 'hot or not' in a dorm room. Now we wait to see how it plays out in the crypto/NFT industry years later.
Im a betting man, and my chips are all in on the future success of Meta integrating with the Web 3 space.
By the way, "The Social Network" is one of my favorite movies of all time and shows us the process of when Facebook was being created between Mark & the Winklevoss twins. Highly recommend.
